Living in these beautiful mountains would be a dream for many but as a young child I found life really difficult. School was tough, I never made friends easily and experienced bullying and found it hard to find my own path.
At the age of 15 I reached my lowest point and tried to take my own life. I know now, after many years of counselling and finally talking about my feelings that I had mental health issues which needed to be addressed.
I still have tough times but am now better equipped to deal with them. I never had the chance to meet Ellie but this charity really resonates with me and my personal struggle. Often people think when you have a great job or appear to have a great life you don’t have any worries but mental health affects anyone.
Although I am not an athlete and haven’t had the same pressures as Ellie, when I met Tony back in 2019 and he asked me to join the committee it was an offer I could not refuse. I’m looking forward to getting involved with the charity and being able to help other young people living in a small community where it may not always be easy to get the help and support you need.
Whether it is in the form of a donation or a corporate partnership. You can support our work by donating to the Ellie Soutter Foundation.
