Meet Maisie Potter

24 year old Team GB snowboarder from Snowdonia, North Wales

24 year old team GB snowboarder from North Wales is currently living in Morzine ever since covid and Brexit in order to be able to get to all her training camps and competitions both European and World Cup events.

Maisie’s debut on the world tour was in 2017 at the age of nineteen, which was also the Olympic qualification year. Two months prior and one good run away from qualifying, Maisie had an accident and broke her heel – which took around a year to recover from. Despite this, Maisie had the opportunity to provide analysis on the BBC during Pyeongchang 2018. The following season proved that she was back from injury after a 2nd place at a Europa Cup with a stacked field, which is her career best result to date. Placing 5th overall in the standings before the pandemic cancelled the end of the season.

Throughout the pandemic, Maisie has been competing in Olympic qualifiers leading up to Beijing 2022. Due to the lack of opportunities, she fell short of the British criteria despite being offered a spot qualifying for Games.

Maisie is now reflecting and taking a little bit of time to focus on her mental health and snowboarding and how to be the most efficient for next season and beyond.

WHAT DO you like to do when not competing?

When I’m not competing, I love to spend some time at home with friends and family. I’ll do pretty much any outdoor activities but you’ll find me mostly skating, biking, surfing, climbing etc. I’ve had multiple summer jobs keeping me busy as well to make ends meet.

GIVE US A SUMMARY OF YOUR SNOWBOARDING CAREER TO DATE…
